MEET OUR CAPTAINS
Captain Jay
Captain Jay is our inshore specialist and fishes out of a Hewes Redfisher. Captain Jay is a “Trailer Guide” meaning that his boat is on a trailer and is launched where the fish are or where it is convenient to pick up his clients. Captain Jay fishes from Ft. Lauderdale all the way down to the south end of Biscayne Bay National Park. Captain Jay specializes in shallow water sight fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon and snook on the flats and backcountry. Most fishing is done with light spinning gear. In addition, fly-fishing equipment is always available for the more advanced angler. Alot of our fishing is done in the protected canal and backwaters where windy weather does not
become a factor. Captain Jay enjoys working with children and families and he is known for his incredible patience and skill when it comes to teaching novices. For those who like adventure, shark and barracuda fishing is available in the shallows of Biscayne Bay. It is extremely exciting to hook an eight-foot shark in less than two feet of water. For a more relaxed trip, smaller fish like sea trout, pompano, mackerel and jacks can keep the family in constant action. The Hewes Redfisher is a comfortable, spacious and dry inshore fishing boat. The boat is equipped with two live wells used to hold a variety of live bait allowing for flexibility based upon fishing conditions. The boat has plenty of dry storage for personal belongings and a large built-in cooler. Cushioned backrests provide additional comfort.
Captain Evan
Captain Evan is our offshore captain and fishes out of a intrepid center console. Captain Evan is 35 years old and has been fishing offshore since the age of eleven. His first experiences were obtained riding out on first class charter boats and learning from the best in the business. By the age of fourteen, he was working as a mate on the top-notch boats and gaining tournament experience. By the age of sixteen, Captain Evan was commercial fishing out of his own boat and learning the ins and outs of South Florida waters on a day-to-day basis. Captain Evan’s vast knowledge of sport fishing and commercial fishing make him an all around excellent offshore guide that always keeps his customers in hot action. The center-console Intrepid is a roomy offshore fishing machine. The boat has a live well that will keep up to 1,000 live bait fish. Bait fish is netted several hours prior to the fishing trip so the clients spend the time fishing rather than catching bait. All these bait fish pay off when the Captain live chums the water to attract game fish such as sailfish, dolphin, tuna, kingfish, wahoo, shark and much more. Bottom fishing over deep wrecks is also done for mutton snapper, large grouper and amber jack. When the Gulf Stream waters are calm, nighttime sword fishing trips are available for those who are looking to catch a true monster such as a broadbill swordfish or a mako shark.
